How to send a fax online from your phone or computer

You don’t need a fax machine to send a PDF. With JustSendFax, you upload your document in a browser, enter the recipient’s fax number, and pay for a single fax. There’s no account to create and no subscription to cancel.

Send a fax

What you’ll need

  • A PDF of the document you want to send, up to 10 MB and 50 pages.
  • The recipient’s fax number, including the country code for international numbers.
  • A phone or computer with an internet connection and a payment method accepted at Stripe checkout.

If your document is a photo or a Word file, save or export it as a PDF first. Open the PDF and check that every page is readable and in the right order. Remove password protection before uploading.

1. Upload your PDF

Open the fax form and choose your PDF. On a phone, use the file picker to select the document. On a computer, you can also drag it into the upload area.

After uploading, check the file name and page count. If you chose the wrong file, use the remove button to choose a different PDF. A file that is too large, password-protected, or over the page limit must be corrected before you can continue.

2. Enter the recipient’s fax number

Use the fax number provided by the person or organization receiving your document. Double-check every digit: a regular voice number may not receive a fax. For a US or Canadian number, you can enter the ten-digit number; the form adds the +1 country code.

Confirm the number with your recipient if you’re unsure. The review screen shows the number again before payment.

3. Choose a service and review the price

  • Basic: $4.99 for up to 5 pages, standard quality, and one redial.
  • Priority: $7.99 for up to 50 pages, high quality, and up to three redials.
  • Certified: $9.99 for up to 50 pages, with Priority features and a printable delivery receipt.

If your PDF has more than 5 pages, the form selects Priority and explains why Basic is unavailable. You can choose Certified if you need the delivery receipt. Review the document, number, and total before continuing to secure payment through Stripe.

4. Follow your fax’s delivery status

After checkout, keep the live status page open or bookmark it. It shows payment and delivery updates. You can also use the status lookup with your order ID. Delivery confirmations appear on the website, not by email.

Delivery time depends on the document and the receiving fax machine. A busy line may require redial attempts. When a Certified fax is delivered, its status page links to a receipt you can print or save as a PDF.

What if the fax can’t be delivered?

If delivery fails after all redials, your payment is automatically refunded in full. Check that the recipient’s fax number is correct and their fax machine is available before trying again. For help with an order, contact support and include your order ID.

What happens to the uploaded document?

Your document is deleted after transmission finishes, whether delivery succeeds or fails. Uploaded documents that are never sent are deleted within 24 hours. The Privacy Policy explains how document and order information is handled.
